About Us

URBAN MINING INTERNATIONAL, headquartered in London, provides expertise and direction in environmental projects and services including:

We provide direction and financial solutions to environmental sustainable development projects in tourism, soft commodity trading and in management of waste, energy and climate change projects.


Main team

Victor Carbajosa Urban MiningVictor Carbajosa is Director of Urban Mining and partner of Urban Mining International Ltd (UK). He is currently in charge of environmental projects including Big Data and ERP solutions for clients. He also co-manages the commodity-trading department.

Victor is a certified Project Manager with ample experience in database and back-end programming. He has lived in Spain, Brazil, Denmark, United States and now currently lives in the UK.


Mercedes Carballo Urban MiningMercedes Carballo is Business Director of the Sustainable Tourism and Environmental Education areas of Urban Mining. Her expertise in tourism management and marketing is complemented by the design and implementation of projects and events in environmental education. She holds an MSc in Tourism Marketing from the University of Surrey, and co-directs the Festival Sea of Seas (Festival Mar de Mares, A Coruña). Mercedes has lived and worked in Spain and the United States.


José Ramón Carbajosa is senior partner at Urban Mining. He has worked on WEEE related issues since 2003.  He was a key member of the team set up by CECED (European Committee of Domestic Equipment Manufacturers) to discuss and implement the first WEEE Directive at European level.  Part of the working group created by Spain’s Environmental Ministry to transpose the Directive into national Law, he became the Chief Executive Officer of Spain’s largest WEEE take-back system, Fundación Ecolec.  In 2012-2014 he was elected President of the WEEE Forum, Europe’s association of WEEE take-back systems.

He is Considered one of Europe’s top expert in WEEE recycling he participated actively in the development of WEEELABEX, a set of pan-European standards for WEEE collection, transport and treatment.


Marcelo GaratBusiness Development Director Marcelo Grarat is head of trading in South America. He brings ample experience in the logistics and construction sector and trading withing Peru, Paraguay, Chile, Spain and Uzbekistan markets. He has lived in Europe for the last years is now back in Argentina in charge of opening the Trading department.
